Olmsted Falls City Schools is looking for Teaching Assistants for the 2024-2025 school year.

The Teaching Assistant (TA) program started with the intention of providing hourly paid coverage for classroom teachers so they have the opportunity to collaborate for a couple hours a month in grade level meetings. There is a comprehensive training in the fall which will provide you with all of the information you will need. You would collaborate with each assigned teacher to gain the specific info needed to cover their class and provide a great experience for the students as well.  Teacher Assistants cover staff at Falls Lenox and ECC.  Training for ALL TA’s will be administered in the fall, September, at which time you will receive a handbook to reference.

All TA’s are required to have a valid Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education.  This permit is renewed EVERY year and the cost of this is reimbursed by the school district after a TA has worked 8 days/shifts as a TA.  Applications cannot be submitted for the 2024-2025 school year until after July 1st. All TAs must complete an “Educational Aide Permit” with the Ohio Dept. of Education.  (If you have a SAFE account with ODE that link is https://safe.ode.state.oh.us/portal/signup.) Once you have created your SAFE account you will need to log into the Ohio Dept. of Education website to complete your “Aide Permit”.  The link is http://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Teaching/Educator-Licensure/Apply-for-Certificate-License//Educational-Aides-and-Monitors which will cost you $25.00.  This fee is reimbursed to you upon submitting your receipt to the board office.  Do not apply for your license until after July 1, 2024.  If you require fingerprinting, an appointment is required with Debbie Tracy at 427-6002 at the board office. We look forward to your continued interest in the Teacher Assistant Program.

The hours worked by a TA can vary but TA’s work approximately 6 hours a month at Falls Lenox and approximately 4 hours at the ECC.  The schedules for each building are designed so that the dates do not overlap and the schedule is usually available in late August or early September.  There are other opportunities to cover for teachers when there is training or student meetings they need to attend.  We try to keep the assigned classroom TA with each teacher but there are times that schedules do not allow this.
