Job Description:
Function of Job: Under the general supervision of the Superintendent or his designee and the Director of Food Services, the immediate supervision of the Cafeteria Manager, and the Principal to provide hot lunches which meet or exceed State and Federal standards, adhere to rigid sanitary standards, in cooperation with the Cafeteria Manager prepare inventories, operational reports and other such duties as may be assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provide hot lunches that meet or exceed State and Federal standards for all students who participate in the breakfast and lunch program. 2. Adhere to rigid sanitary standards. 3. Prepare the daily menu as prescribed by the Cafeteria Manager and the Director of Food Services. 4. Prepare requisitions for produce, milk, bakery products, etc. as necessary. 5. Assist the Cafeteria Manager in preparing a monthly inventory of all items in stock in the kitchen dry storage and freezer. 6. Assist Cafeteria Manager in preparing required operational reports. 7. Check all equipment daily to assure it is in working condition and report equipment in need of repair or replacement to the Cafeteria Manager. 8. Assist in the training of servers, preparers, and substitutes as instructed by the Cafeteria Manager. 9. Assist servers with washing dishes before, during, and at the end of each lunch period as necessary. 10. Assist the Cafeteria Manager in certifying the daily receipts. 11. Adhere to Federal portion size standards when serving food items. 12. Refer student problems to the appropriate administrator.

13. Perform food server tasks as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager if the server is absent and no substitute is present. 14. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Food Service.
Supervision Received and Given: Oral and written instructions are received from the Cafeteria Manager.
Qualifications and General Responsibilities: A. Be in good physical condition and physically and mentally capable of performing the required work. B. Pass prescribed skill tests as required by the local school district and/or the state. Possess appropriate license or certificate. C. Have the ability to communicate, work cooperatively with others, get along well with students, parents, citizens and other school personnel. D. Have the ability to use discretion in dealing with the public and to project a positive image of the local schools. E. Be safety conscious at all times. F. Possess the willingness to work, display initiative, assume responsibility, and take pride in work. G. Be of high moral character, dependable, industrious, and exercise good judgment and refrain from using objectionable language. H. Possess a positive attitude toward learning and following directions while on the job. I. Maintain a personal appearance that is commensurate with the job to be performed. J. Have a belief in public education and a concern for the future and welfare of youngsters. K. Protect school property insofar as possible, from damage and loss through fire, theft, vandalism and deterioration. L. Observe the policies and practices of the local schools.
